Suwanee parks: what each one has, and what’s closed right now

The short answer

Suwanee's city parks range from Town Center Park and its Big Splash fountain to the 1.2-mile loop at Sims Lake Park and the disc golf course at Suwanee Creek Park, and three Gwinnett County parks have Suwanee addresses. City parks are generally open sunup to sundown. Below is a park-by-park rundown with addresses, amenities, rules and what is closed or limited right now, checked October 17, 2026.

The short answer: for small children, go to PlayTown Suwanee, or to Big Splash in Town Center Park until its season ends October 31. For a walk, try the 1.2-mile loop at Sims Lake Park or the Suwanee Creek Greenway. For disc golf, go to Suwanee Creek Park. No city park has a dog park. The nearest one we found is at Gwinnett County’s Settles Bridge Park.

Hours and rules for every city park

City parks are generally open from sunup to sundown, and Town Center Park and Town Center on Main usually stay busy well into the evening. An older city ordinance PDF says sunrise until 11 p.m. unless posted otherwise (City of Suwanee). We go by the current parks page and posted signs.

  • Only non-organized sports are allowed in Suwanee-owned parks. City of Suwanee
  • Under the city park ordinance, possessing or drinking alcohol in a recreation facility is unlawful except at events specifically authorized by the city. City of Suwanee
  • Dogs are allowed in Town Center Park on a leash, and owners must clean up after them; bag dispensers are located throughout the park. City of Suwanee

Only non-organized sports are allowed in city-owned parks (City of Suwanee), and Town Center Park bans ball games altogether.

Pavilions and group visits

The city’s Park Use FAQ (City of Suwanee) says you can rent pavilions for parties at Suwanee Creek Park and PlayTown Suwanee. The Sims Lake Park pavilion is not rented because parking there is limited. Groups of more than ten must reserve Big Splash. Questions go to City Hall at 770-945-8996, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (City of Suwanee).
