The city describes downtown Suwanee as two areas: historic Old Town along Main Street, and Town Center (City of Suwanee). Town Center on Main, which opened in 2024, joins them. The city says the project, including the rerouting of Main Street, makes the two one connected, walkable downtown (City of Suwanee). Here is daily life near downtown, from public sources.
What the Town Center district holds
Town Center was built on a former industrial site. Today it’s a public-private partnership covering more than 63 acres, including the 40-acre Shadowbrook at Town Center neighborhood. The city counts more than 100,000 square feet of retail space, 87,000 square feet of office space, 147 townhome and condominium units and 85 single-family homes, along with Town Center Park and City Hall, which opened in 2009 (City of Suwanee).
Across the railroad, Old Town is a historic district of about 56 acres. Its commercial and residential buildings date from 1871 to the early 1960s and line Main Street, parallel to the Norfolk Southern railroad (City of Suwanee). See Old Town.
